Research & Innovative Applications of Energy Information Systems & ICT Services
The INTELEN Group is a very strong spin-off research group of NTUA (Medialab) founded in 2006 by a core group of promising high-level Ph.D. candidates in Electrical & Computer Engineering of NTUA and it is considered as a National leading group in applied research and application of modern IT, Internet Technologies and advanced Algorithms applied to the Energy and ICT sector. The group consists of young ambitious scientists and engineers of NTUA and other top schools in Greece and abroad and the basic objective is to promote technological research, creative thinking and perception bind with technological innovation in a national and global level so that to be the mirror of the Greek research potential for abroad. The group has already won national and European level prizes (OTENET Innovation Award 2006, TOP-5 ALBA in Green Entrepreneurship 2008, presented to the Innovation Academy Microsoft 2008, members of EU Innovation Academy i-techpartner, Best New researchers in Greece 2007 from STATUS Magazine) with several Patents in algorithms and energy knowledge management and publications in conferences and journal papers.
The introduction of IT in the field of Energy, using methods of smart energy knowledge management, profiling and Internet technologies is a major investment for the future. The relation of IT and Internet with the Energy sector will create a new market and a new services perspective, that of Energy Information Systems and Services. So Based on strong research and development, using web networks, Internet technologies, innovative algorithms and methodologies, Intelen Group creates personalized ICT energy services that can serve any need in smart energy management and profiling so that to provide personalized ICT knowledge to all key-players.
The concept of energy-savings and «energy services» from ESCO Companies (Energy Services Companies) will be particularly important and will serve as a reference for the new Energy Market under the EU Directives 2006/32 / EC & 2002/91/EC and the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (EEAP) for saving energy and reducing C02 for the next 10 years. Intelen Group has already started the dynamic development of such IT services for the energy market in conjunction with all European directives, which will lead to the emergence of a new concept in Greece, the Energy Governance.
